No communications from UVSR facility to CC2. Found a chewed fiber optic cable in the optical trailer, replaced cable. Found one fiber not transmitting a strong enough signal. Replaced 250 ft fiber optic cables from UVSR to CC2.

The instrument mentor has notified me that the UVSR instrument has stopped responding to commands.  T/S found that the communications was good but the instrument is dead.  The instrument mentor said he would have to arrange either further T/S or a trip to the CF. RTS at 2145 GMT.

The instrument mentor is having trouble communicating with the instrument.  T/S found that the instrument was not responding to any commands.  Power cycled the instrument.  The instrument seemed to respond to commands at this time.  Notified the instrument mentor via e-mail and voice mail.  RTS at 2030.

The instrument mentor has sent a replacement control card and needs to have it installed.  Installed the instrument control card at 2030 GMT.  Notified the mentor.  RTS at 2200 GMT.

Instrument mentor sent a dehumidifier to be installed in the UVSR shelter.  Installed dehumidifier in UVSR shelter.  Water collection bucket does not have a drain cap.  Hooked up drain hose and put outlet end of hose high enough so water could not run out.  Waiting on procedures on whether to drain collection bucket daily or cut hole in structure for drain hose.  RTS at 1450 GMT.

Jim Schlemmer reported that he was unable to access the UVSR/RSS Linux computer.  The computer was found powered off.   Powered the computer on and RTS at 1920 GMT.

The entire Central Facility has experienced a power outage at approximately 1845 GMT.  Power  was restored to the Central Facility at approximately 1945 GMT.  RTS @2000 GMT.

The site has lost power due to storms in the area at 1415 GMT.  The instrument is shut down at this time.

During routine inspection of the UVSR, the bird deterrent was found to be stuck. At 1428 GMT, the bird deterrent was placed into the home position. RTS at 1442 GMT.

The bird deterrent has been repaired and needs to be reinstalled.  Reinstalled the bird deterrent.  RTS at 1445.

Bird deterrent was broken off at 1440 GMT. Mentor will be notified. Troubleshooting is in progress.

The mentor called and wants the computer rebooted. Rebooted the computer at 1545 GMT. RTS at 1600 GMT.

The mentor wants us to reboot the Linux machine. Rebooted at 1412 GMT. RTS at 1427 GMT.

On 7/26/00 at 1820 GMT the bird deterrent arm was made out of a piece of 14 gauge copper wire. RTS at 1835 GMT.

During the severe weather yesterday afternoon the bird deterrent arm was blown off and it is not able to be found. Waiting for a replacement.

At 1336 GMT the bird deterrent arm was found lying on the roof of the building next to the instrument. At 1337 GMT powered off bird deterrent and reinstalled arm. At 1340 GMT powered bird deterrent on. RTS at 1351 GMT.

Breaker number 4 on the outside of the building was found to be tripped. Tried to reset the breaker but it would immediately trip again. Contacted Dan Nelson in order to gain access into the building. Found that the UPS was causing the breaker to be tripped. Installed a spare UPS that Craig Webb had on hand. This allowed the instrument to be put back in service. Contacted Lee Harrison and he is going to send us another UPS to replace the one that was not operating. We are to return the original UPS back to the address he will ship with the new UPS next week.

The bird deterrent was having a problem of getting hung up and returning to the home position. After lubricating the deterrent housing two separate times mentor instructions were to power bird deterrent off. Powered off at 1947 GMT.

The UVSR Instrument and enclosure was successfully installed near the CF Central Cluster. The requirements for a daily and weekly PM procedure were discussed with the Instrument Mentor.
